Arden's 1st Birthday

This past Saturday Michelle and I put on a 1st birthday party for a client on the roof deck of their building. Located uptown on the east end, the space we got to work with was beautiful. The roof had incredible landscaping, wood flooring and plenty of seating. So Michelle and I focused on the food, favors and decor. Lil Arden was our gorgeous birthday baby. Arden’s mommy requested pink to be the color for the party. So pretty in hot pink was our theme. We tied three large (3 foot) balloons to the railing on the back side of the roof so when you walked up and onto the deck you were hit with a dramatic pop of raspberry pink. We had ordered the balloons from the Balloon Saloon in Tribeca. They are so fabulous there. They have a huge selection of balloons and deliver promptly when you need them. We had two tables: one for food and one for drinks. We used hot pink flowers in mercury vases on each. We turned to our friend Merydwen at My Delightful Designs to come up with some artwork for sweet Arden. She designed a logo that we used on Izze pink grapefruit soda and also for water bottles. She also created a template for us to print bunting which we strung with raffia and hung at the party. Merydwen’s work is fabulous…a great resource for LMP! As a favor for the kids, we used a DIY project found on the Hostess with the Mostess blog and created personalized bubbles. These were beyond adorable and a huge hit amongst the lil guests at the party.

  Stationed: • Chicken and tortellini salad with pesto vinaigrette (served in the mini Asian take out cartons with bamboo sporks) • Greek salad skewers in wheat grass crates • Shrimp, cantaloupe and fresh herb skewers in wheat grass crates • Crudités bar with veggies, breadsticks, a white bean and ranch dip Passed: • Roasted cherry tomato crostini with fresh ricotta and basil • BLT mini sammies • Mini baguette sandwich of ham & gruyere with pesto aioli • Piggies in a blanket with a spicy mustard sauce to dip Kids: • Thin crust cheese pizza • Baked macaroni and cheese cupcakes • Star and flower shaped veggie & fruit skewers
