Party Recap

Nautical parties are a huge trend right now. Is it any wonder that we love this preppy whale first birthday party? We loved having some of our most popular party products used in this party. Mom Ashley, adores the colors red & blue on her son, Oliver. One of her favorite outfits on him is a cute little nautical blue striped romper with whales. This served as the inspiration for the party theme along with adorable printables by Kristin of Paige Simple. Thank you Aspin Photography for capturing all of the preppy details, including an adorable fondant whale topped cake and cupcakes!

I love when hosts set the stage for an unbelievable celebration before guests even walk in the door. Ashley’s styling started outside with a preppy striped printable sign and colorful red & blue polka dot balloons. Printable decorations and balloons are such practical ways to add color and customization to a party space.

Isn’t little Oliver so handsome in his custom nautical shirt by Willow Bee Apparel?

A sea-worthy dessert table was decorated in preppy navy and red stripes. The printable “happy birthday” flag bunting pops against the navy tablecloth and adds that custom look to the party. Using lettered candy dishes to spell out the guest of honor’s name–Oliver– is a great way to not only dress up the table, but to reinforce who the party is all about! Not to mention, the candy dish letters are also a unique way to serve up more sweet treats! You can find these in the Hoopla Events shop.

Ashley served up a sea of gorgeous desserts. Using the iconic preppy whale from the printable collection, she had amazing sugar cookies made for the dessert table. The Sugar Canvas Boutique Bakery did a wonderful job mimicking the printable designs. I love the sweet details and can only imagine how delicious the cookies tasted! They are sure cute to look at! She had this idea repeated on the beautiful cake and cupcakes by Sweets & Treats Design Studio. Each was topped with custom fondant toppers depicting the darling whale design. We love that she used our navy striped baking cups to display her cupcakes!

In addition to the darling dessert table, a snack station was set up with more enticing food options. We spy some preppy red and white polka dotted plates from The TomKat Studio. There were sub sandwiches with darling printable flags, packs of gold fish crackers housed in toddle cups with vinyl anchor accents by I Have a Favor, salad and super cute boxes of popcorn (The TomKat Studio) with printable party circle labels. Lots of celebrating not only works up a big appetite, but also a big thirst! Ashley was prepared with adorable custom wrapped water bottles and also drink pouches for party guests. Aren’t those blue and white striped paper straws with preppy flags so cute? They are from AngieHeartsJared and look awesome mixed with our red and white straws.

Entertainment was kept simple considering the ages of the party crowd. A special place of honor was created for the birthday boy and the main event–his smash cake eating! I love the special birthday boy seating sign and the incorporation of more printable bunting on the front of his high chair. Watching the guest of honor experience a smash cake for the first time is all the entertainment parents need. Haha!
