Party Recap

Colorful handmade paper blooms and classic black and white stripes were the perfect preppy theme for this summer bridal shower! Bride-to-be Taylor and her fiancé William are one talented and stylish couple. I wanted to create an equally stylish shower that reflected the vibrant personalities of this fun-loving duo.

When deciding on the perfect bridal shower theme, I absolutely loved the idea of creating large paper flowers to decorate. I was heavily influenced by the beautiful paper poppies that Brittany Jepsen from The House that Lars Built created for her blog last spring, and decided to use the poppy as the focal bloom and starting point for the rest of the paper flowers I created for Taylor's shower. The large paper flower wreath (made up of red poppies, yellow black-eyed susans, pink anemones, daisies, various green foliage, and other brightly colored blooms) sat above the simple black and white striped runner of the gift table.

A small table and letter board sign welcomed family and friends to the celebration. There, guests picked up custom designed bridal shower activities to be completed throughout the event. A fun "Find the Guest who..." activity encouraged guests to mingle and get to know one another, while "Advice for the Bride" and "Date Night Idea" cards were filled out throughout the morning and given to the bride to read through afterwards. Party favors of locally roasted coffee beans were distributed before leaving.

Taylor and William have an unabashed love for coffee, so a playful menu of coffee and donuts was perfect for this late morning shower. The scrumptious donuts were supplied by local Savannah bakery, Baker's Pride, and hung on a custom-made donut wall (designed by me, built by my awesome husband.) Other brunch foods, including fresh fruit, breakfast casseroles and sausage balls, were also served. Paper flower cake toppers were the finishing touch to delicious cheesecakes, which were homemade by a friend of Taylor's.

Guests sat at round tables with a single large paper poppy serving as the centerpiece. A simple (and inexpensive!) black and white striped photo booth backdrop was set up off to the side for family and friends to grab pictures with the bride-to-be before leaving. It was a truly wonderful morning celebrating sweet Taylor!
