Party Recap

The inspiration for this Christmas party came from my Babcie — grandma in Polish :). She has a plaid tablecloth she uses every year for Christmas and I just love it! To me, plaid has a nostalgic, classic, vintage feel that is perfect for the holidays.

A few months ago, I found the plaid napkins at Home Goods. The color is almost spot on to matching my Babcie’s tablecloth!

To really make the plaid stand out, I decided to use a traditional white tablecloth. Each place setting included a plaid napkin, gold flatware, a wine glass and white plate with gold trim and polka dots. I also added a jingle bell drink stirrer to each wine glass.

To create the centerpiece, I used a fresh pine garland, real sugar pine cones, a mini poinsettia and jeweled candles. You know I am a huge fan of Trader Joe’s, the fresh pine garland was only $7.99 for 15 ft!! The aroma of the fresh pine garland and pine cones was so warming and welcoming.

I created an 8 ft garland using matte white 5” balloons and 11” pearl forest green, pearl ruby red and chrome gold for pops of color. The balloon garland was the focal point of the dessert table, so I kept the other décor simple with a fresh pine garland, nutcracker and bottle brush tree. I created a small bouquet in a mason jar using mini red roses, baby’s breath and eucalyptus.

I purchased the desserts from Trader Joe’s and displayed them on cake stands. Don’t be ashamed to buy desserts from the store, it’s all about presentation! Also, do yourself a favor and buy the mini chocolate mousse cakes, they are delicious!!
