Party Recap

Two of our dear friends, Meghan & Josh, are expecting their first baby this January. We couldn’t be more excited for them and wanted to celebrate them both. My friend Cassandra and I decided to throw them a surprise couples shower. We were trying to think of an easy place to surprise them at without them being suspicious. We decided on a brewery. Perfect cover for a meeting place to hang out and have some brews. The only downside was for the mama-to-be who obviously can’t drink, but we made sure they had some root beer for the guest of honor.

Cassandra designed the adorable invitations. If you need a custom invitation designed or would like this one you can email her at [email protected].

We decided to stick with the brewery theme for the shower and got creative. For centerpieces, we repurposed some beer bottles as vases and added baby’s breath.

Cassandra made the amazing diaper cake…some huggies for the mama-to-be and chuggies for the dad-to-be. Yes, she made that custom onesie too that says “Bullis Brewed.’ How cute, right?!

We wanted to do a few games that would be fun for both the men and women. Our first game was a beer chugging game…out of baby bottles. How appropriate, right? Haha. I found the baby bottles at the Dollar Tree.

Another game we decided on was Pacifier Pong. Exactly like beer pong, except use pacifiers in lieu of ping pong balls. Only change in game rules: no bouncing, hah!

A third game we wanted to do was Bobbing for Nipples. Simply fill a metal tub with water and nipples and let the guests who have hopefully had a beer or two by this point have at it.

We set up a little station for guests to write funny notes to the parents-to-be on diapers. (Side note: the basket is a cheap, plastic, dollar store basket I spray painted silver.)

We wanted to add a special touch to the cupcakes to customize the party. I made the bottle cap cupcake toppers with the baby’s monogram.

And last but not least, we had to do a special party favor. What favor goes better with a brewery theme than a custom koozie? Cassandra made the adorable custom koozies aka “beer diaper” for the guests to remember the celebration. How awesome did they turn out?

Well that’s a wrap. Cassandra and I had a blast planning this couples baby shower and the parents-to-be had a fun time as well! We can’t wait to meet our newest buddy, little JDB!
