Peter Wilson Blum III was a Master Tinsmith in Old Salem, NC and passed away at the age of 84 in 2019. He was a 3rd generation Master Craftsman beginning his work in his grandfather’s tin-shop, P.W. Blum and Sons in Winston-Salem. Mr. Blum graduated from NC State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. When his job was going to take him away from this area, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and continue the art of tinsmith. He has had many awards throughout his career, the most prestigious being The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest honor the Governor can bestow upon a NC citizen. His work has been featured in movies such as “The Last of the Mohicans”, “The Patriot” and “Tom and Huck”. Mr. Blum has always been proud of his Scottish heritage, Moravian faith and involvement in the Scout’s Order of the Arrow. He was a truly remarkable person. His items are very collectible.
