Where did you find the baby block ?

The blocks are just 10" white cardboard boxes that I purchased at Amazon.com. I painted a 7" square on each side leaving a 1.5" border on all sides. The letters are 4" wood letters purchased at hobbylobby.com and then painted white.

How did were you able to keep the bears in place?

    Desiree C wrote:

The bears were kept in place by wrappibg the arms around the rod and using a safety pin to pin the inside of the paws together.

Do you remember how long the teddy bears were? 5" or 9"? Also, what did you do to cover the top of the box? I'm having a baby shower next month and I want to recreate the same centerpiece.

I used regular Elmer's glue for the letters and they stayed in place.

The teddy bears are 10". I purchased them from msteddybear.com. I just glued the top of the box closed and didn't cover it. It would probably look nicer with the teddy bear sitting on a receiving blanket.

How did you attach the balloons? And what type of balloons are they?

    Desiree C wrote:

Connie E, the balloons are Qualatex 24" Tuff Tex Crystal Clear Balloons with a Qualatex 16" latex balloon inside. I used 18" balloon cups to put them on the rod. The small balloons are Qualatex 5" latex balloons. I made quads and twisted them onto the rod. I purchased all of the balloons and balloon cups from bargainballoons.com. Hope that helps.

What kind of paint did you use on the cardboard? Did you use any sort of gesso before hand? Did you have any issues with the boxes warping at all? How many coats did you use?

    Desiree C wrote:

Candace P, I used one coat of acrylic paint and I didn't have any issues with warping.

Thank you for sharing. Do you remember what brand and color of paint you used? I know you said it was acrylic. Is that a navy blue?

    Desiree C wrote:

Hi Chandra J. I think the brand of paint was Folk Art but I don't have any left to confirm. The color is royal blue.

The mapkin is just sitting on top of the plasticware but the bow is held together with a small piece of ribbon and a glue dot.

Hi Desiree! Ha 5 years later and looking to recreate your centerpiece looks. Please where did you purchase your rod from? Is this an acrylic rod? I was trying to follow the thread of comments but didn’t see anything on what type of rod or where to purchase. You talked about the cup you put on the rod which was from bargain balloons but not the rod itself. Thanks so much for sharing the detailed information. It has really helped me with my business.
