Party Recap
For my son Kellen’s first birthday, I was desperately trying to think of a fun party theme and toyed around with a lot of the usual suspects. Then, while on vacation with friends. their kids started calling him “Watermelon Kellen” and a party theme was born! There are so many cute decor, food and photo ideas around watermelons, especially for a summer birthday, so Watermelon Picnic was the perfect fit.
For me, every party idea starts with invitation design. I always love to include photos of the kids on the invite so for this, we did a SUPER FUN watermelon photo shoot. The invite were packaged along with a donation message and memory card, wrapped in checkered restaurant paper, sealed with custom stickers.
Watermelon and Picnic made for a perfect combo to inspire everything from the food to the decor. We filled the backyard with picnic tables and served picnic food. And for a hot summer party we had plenty of things to keep everyone cool from paper plate fans and cool towels to watermelon drinks. Perhaps my favorite part of the party was our favor table! Each guest left with handmade watermelon jam in addition to their choice of watermelon candy from the buffet. Such a fun summer party!
