Party Recap

At the last minute we decided to give the neighborhood kids a graduation party, since they were all moving on to either the next grade and/or the next school. Dr. Seuss's "Oh the Places You'll Go" just seemed like a natural fit. I pulled together alot of what I already had, coupled with some free printables, from which I was able to make bookmarks, photo frames, diplomas, etc. The best part-we had the kids write down what they wanted to be when they grow up, and we attached these little notes to their helium balloons and went into the backyard and released them.

Party Highlights

  • Best Moment

When the kids released their balloons.

  • Most Touching Moment

The children each wrote down on paper what they wanted to be when they grow up, and then we tied their notes to the helium-filled balloons and released them into the sky. The kids LOVED this!

  • Desserts

Chocolate cake trimmed with Necco Wafers, lemon cucakes topped with free printable toppers, giant pixie stix, marshmallow twists, lollipops and cotton candy.

  • Party Favors

Themed picture frames with the kids pictures inside, bookmarks, cups with silly straws, a themed activity book, funny sunglasses (because their future is so bright :) and themed diplomas.

  • Activities / Games

We gathered around and I read "Oh the Places You'll Go", then we did a little "graduation ceremony," at which each child received their own diploma. After eating we had a pinata and a balloon release.
