Mint To Be One - Ice Cream Social 1st Birthday
ByParty Recap
Mint To Be One with Paisley being our "cherry" on top just melted into something fun for everyone. I started with the idea that I love mint and burlap accents. Since I'm a wedding photographer, I created a board with mint, strawberry, vanilla and cherry colors to keep it all organized. Ice cream is a must for Arizona parties but I wanted something that was fun for kids and adults. Working with Kim at Event Essentials on my ideas to include mint, stripes and ice cream soft colors was included in my planning. Once I stamped off on the production of those invitations, I worked with Barb and her assistant to create the 2 layer cake with fondant and butter cream. The number one on top was made of pure fondant and covered in pastel dots to match the ice cream cups. We chose a chocolate cake with bavarian cream filling and Paisley had a mini smash cake for herself.
I created a tall dessert table with a burlap table runner. Treats on display were ice cream cone cupcakes, oreo pops sprinkled, chocolate and sprinkles dipped ice cream cones, and the 2 tier cake. I created a sign spelling out "ONE" in burlap. I purchased vintage mini cups to hold the toppings and borrowed the mini bowls to fill with larger toppings. The fonts used for decor were downloaded from Pinterest for the topping signs. I was able to craft my own rosettes for the back wall and high chair. I used craft paper, tissue paper and old gift bags I had from previous baby showers for DIY to create rosettes. There were also striped old fashioned straws used for root beer floats for those wanting something vintage.
On display on the dessert table was a chalkboard sign I made to record the milestones of Paisley. For picture milestones, I created a white framed picture display accented with cherries, chalkboard bunting for wording, and mint colored twine. Miss Paisley was dressed in a pink tutu and onesie with her piggie tails for the day. She joined her friends outside for the Slip N Slide, water table and bean bag toss games on the grass in our backyard. This party took time to plan but worth every minute of her 4 toothed smile.
