Party Recap
My little one is crazy about Elmo, so when it came time to plan his 1st Birthday, there was no question that I wanted to go with an Elmo theme. I kept things fairly simple, but everyone seemed to have a good time. By planning many months in advance, I was able to find some super good deals on many of the items I needed for the party. It was so much fun to plan, I've already started planning birthday #2!

Great! Did you do the cakes and cupcakes yourself?

Thank you, I had so much fun planning my baby boy's party! These were the first cake pops I had ever made, but I was proud of how they turned out.

Thanks, they were very affordable and easy to make. I just used old coffee cans and covered them with construction paper.

Love the big balloons, where did you find them?

Very cute candy buffet, like the idea of using buckets to put the candy in.

Where did you get the cupcake wrappers and picks?
Susie C wrote:
I got them off of Ebay , they were adorable. We kept the Elmo around to play with for months after the party!

Thanks! I thought for a 1 year old, it was better to use unbreakable containers

Yep! We looked into renting a costume and it was actually cheaper to just buy one on Ebay. Then I was actually able to make a little money when I resold it. It was a big hit, I am so glad I did it!

Me too!

I made them. I just used a store bought one for my template and cut them out of card stock. They were time consuming, but worth it!

So cute! Can you give more detailed directions on how you did this for the least crafty person alive (me!)? I think I get the coffee can part, but how did you get the tissue paper and the picture thing to look so cute on top of it?

did you make the elmo cake pops? What did you use for the eyes and nose? And how did you get his head the right shape?
Susie C wrote:
These really were easy and quick. I had purchased the Sesame Street decoration kit, and I attached a wooden dowel to the back of that, but I didn't like it being blank on the back, so I cut out cardstock and put it on the back and then just used a picture and a few extra stickers I had. I bought some floral foam at the dollar store and stuck the dowel in there so it would stand up straight, then just wrapped the tissue paper around and kept fluffing it until I was happy with it. Thanls!!!

I have the Babycakes cake pop maker, which really helps. I ordered the eyes from a cake supply company and for the noses, I used orange chewy sweet tarts but you can just use orange jelly beans. Thanks!!
