My daughter wanted a strawberry shortcake theme for her birthday and we agreed to go with the vintage version, which is so much cuter than the new one. I purchased the "Strawberry Fields" digital paper and clip art from Hello Love Too on Etsy, and this gorgeous design became the central theme for the party, from the invitations, decor and even the cake, cupcakes and cookies.

I handmade the invitation using the digital paper, with a felt strawberry sticker in the middle and a lace edged border. All the banners, decor, pom poms, food and favor tags were also DIY. For the party food, I came up with creative names incorporating the strawberry shortcake characters in a subtle manner, ie "Pupcake's Hotdogs" and "Berrykin Bloom's Bitty Fruity Kebabs" with matching food tags. The kids and adults alike were amused by these! We served traditional party food like hotdogs, pizza and cute rolled sandwiches as well as desserts with themed accents such as strawberry tarts, strawberry kebabs, raspberry jelly shots and strawberry macarons with polka dots! The cake was done to match the design of the digital paper and was vanilla strawberry flavoured as were the cupcakes and cookies. I made strawberry smoothies for drinks which were served in pretty glass bottles decorated with lace and a picture of a strawberry. Guests loved these so much that they took the bottles home!

I also set up a cute vintage style tea table for the kids, with a lace tablecloth and real kid sized china! Even the paper cups had a vintage feel with lace edging as well as the napkins which were rolled up with paper doilies and tied with a polka dotted ribbon. They had a lovely time playing "grown up tea"!

Kids played traditional party games with a strawberry twist such as "Pin the leaf on the strawberry" and a strawberry pinata. As favors I purchased handwoven rattan baskets and used lace to make them feel vintage. They were personalised with each child's initial done with polka dotted ribbon. The girls got strawberry shortcake drinking cups, cookies, candy and stickers
