Party Recap

Our party was inspired by a visit to the 365 store in Anaheim... we wanted an elegant, fun nod to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas! spooky, yet approachable! not terrifying or over the top gruesome...

It took a month, and I'm sure I overspent my budget, but we turned the house into a beautiful collision of Halloween and Christmas! with great food, a dance party, and pin the nose on Zero!

Come see how we did it...

Party Highlights

  • Best Dressed

Everyone looked great, but I did love Ellie's Gothic Vampire costume we made for her.

  • Desserts

What WASN'T dessert at this party?? that's the shorter list. I made jello graveyards (clear cups of red, orange, and apricot jello topped with whipped cream "ghosts), candied apples, cupcakes, and cookie monsters!

  • Activities / Games

The whole party was a costume event! so it was tremendous fun having a fashion show as everyone arrived! For activities, we needed to keep 13 6 year olds busy! so we played outside, haunting our playhouse, and spider webbing up the trampoline! they ran about and played, or crafted at the craft table while we finished getting everything ready. The games included: Pin the Nose on Zero (hand drawn, cut out onto black poster board, then glittered up his collar!) the noses were little pumpkins! Then, we had a mummy wrap party, where the girls split into groups with a model, and wrappers! the best mummy team won access to the Trick & Treat table! In traditional Ludwig party style, we ended with a disco dance party. AWESOME.

  • Budget

You don't want to know. No, wait. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

  • Party Favors

The favors all lay on the Tricks & Treats table! after the Mummy Wrap game, the winning team got to trick and treat first... they made their own goodie bags at our craft table, and shopped for vampire teeth, spider rings, bubbles, bracelets, candy, ghoul treats, and a few little tricks! (I noticed, quite by accident, that someone had taken more than a handful of healthy carrots!)

  • Best Moment

When Ellie's face lit up at the sight of her cupcake tower! she was queen for a day! and deserved every minute of it!

  • What People Ate

We served up a feast of tidbits, from healthy veggies, to zombie fingers--a bowl of Ghoul Mix, to candy Jack Skellington Apples! They ate jello ghosts in the graveyard, pizza, and finished it up with treat filled cupcakes!

  • What People Drank

We served cider for the kiddos, and water! in our ghouly cups... adults shared great wine, because it was MY birthday, too!!

  • Most Touching Moment

At the party's end, my daughters played bowling down the spiderweb hallway. Truly enjoying each other's company, while my hubby and I had a birthday toast and watched a movie. GREAT way to end a very busy day!

  • Funniest Moment

The funniest part of the party, was during the mummy wrap game. As they lost steam, I'd call out "5 more minutes!" and they'd go back to furious work wrapping each other! Seriously. They worked hard to win! and it was hilarious to watch!
