Cowgirl pony party

This is another one of my budget parties. Shopped mostly from my craft supplies and then $1 items at Michaels and Dollar Tree to pull things together. I planned the colors months before hand so I bought things on clearance like the navy blue burlap ribbon after the 4th of July and Target clearance deals around June for party plates.
I cut the pony head out of pink poster board I found at Hobby Lobby (the one and only place I had found pink or brown at). I created the wood planks using wood looking contact paper and strips of poster board. I hung everything using poster command stickies. For the burlap ribbon I hot glued it together using the birthday girls first and middle name (it sounded more cowgirl/country like I thought) made out of twine.
I did splurge on some roses 2 pks for $8 and then because I really wanted baby breathe too I had to spend another $8. With mason jars and the extra ribbon I had these fit right in.
I pulled it all together with a hay bale and little cowgirl extras I found. I served root beer floats with the root beers dressed up in little hats and burlap ribbon bandanas. 6pk hats were about $4 and the ribbon I found at Dollar Tree for $1. I also made pink tissue paper horse shoes which everyone really loved and likely one of the most time consuming since I made 2 large, 1 med and 2 smaller ones. It really helped to pull everything together.
This one was for my mom. We all had a great time and I really enjoyed pulling it all together. She deserved a big party with all she does and has been through this past year.

  Mini meatloaf (very yummy and from betty recipe website), chicken tenders, biscuits, mashed and baked potatoes, asparagus, carrots and corn, crackers, cheese and olives.

  Pink lemonade, strawberry milk served in milk glasses, root beer or floats and a variety of teas.

• Desserts

  Root bear floats, cake and ice cream, pie pops, rice crispy treats, blue wrapped mints, pink gumballs and strawberry little Debbie cakes, sugar cookies and chocolate roses.
