Party Recap

This Wonder Woman party needed to be classy, family friendly, and worthy of a 40th birthday milestone. I was put in the awkward situation of having to plan my own party because my loved ones were too afraid to tackle this milestone on their own! I'm a huge Wonder Woman fan and my husband suggested the theme, which I of course loved and thought so sweet.

My favorite details of the party were tying in the new Wonder Woman movie with a pair of glasses tucked into each centerpiece. A nod to one of my favorite lines in the movie by Steve's secretary Etta Candy, "Really, specs? Suddenly she's not the most beautiful woman you've ever seen?" Makes me laugh every time. We used vintage luggage and a metal airplane to suggest her meeting Steve Trevor {Chris Pine} as he crash lands on her island, and her subsequent travel to England. We kept the colors subdued with navy blues, deep crimson, and burnished gold to keep the feeling grown up and classy. Though I did have fun with the comic strip placemats and slap bracelet favors!

My sweet mother made 5 dozen fruit tarts that were amazing because she loves me, and they are my favorite! We also chose to do a Mexican buffet because it's more family friendly than my first choice of Thai food! Although not at all related to the party theme, which is unusual for me.

Noah's Event Venue's are such gorgeous buildings and they have everything you need to host the perfect event. Beautiful linens in my colors were included and they helped me create a center table for the front of the room on top of the AV cabinet! The dessert table focal point simply could not be placed off to the side!!

The photo booth was another fun piece of the party. A gold sequin backdrop features the words "Only love can change the world," another {slightly modified} quote from the movie.

I was super spoiled for my big day. My husband made nail and hair appointments and I wore a fabulous starry skirt with a DC Comics t-shirt and several Wonder Woman accessories. We encouraged guests to come in superhero costume and they all enjoyed the photo booth props, especially the Wonder Woman shield and sword.

I still can't believe that I am forty years old. I'm told I don't look it and I certainly don't feel it, but I can't imagine a better way to usher in a new decade than surrounded by friends and family. This is a party I will treasure for many years to come.
