Party Recap

One of my all-time favorite party themes for spring and summer is citrus. The vibrant colors scream joy and incorporating fresh citrus really takes the party to the next level. Brunching has really gained popularity the last few years. Rightfully so, who doesn’t love mimosas?! To celebrate the season with friends, I styled an orange citrus brunch. Focusing on bright orange hues from the décor to the food!

The Backdrop
When styling a party, the first detail I like to focus on is creating a unique backdrop that others can easily recreate, too. To go with the orange theme, I naturally had to include an orange mylar balloon! This was the main focal point for the backdrop. Tissue paper is one of my favorite items to craft with. It is easily accessible and affordable. I attached a tassel tail to the orange balloon. On each side of the balloon, I hung orange tissue flower strands and tissue fringe. To make the tissue fringe: Lay a piece of 20×30 tissue paper on a cutting mat. Leave about an inch at the top and begin cutting 1-inch strips using an exacto knife or scissors. Once the piece of tissue paper is cut, you now will have your fringe. To hang like I did, take one corner of the fringe and attach it to a piece of twine using tape to hang vertically. It can also be hung horizontally by placing the fringe over the twine to create a fringe banner.

The Mimosa Bar
I absolutely love creating floral arrangements. Flowers are one of my party must-haves! I created two arrangements using coral roses, baby’s breath and peach amaryllis that I placed in beautiful bamboo Amanda Lindroth vases. I juiced homemade orange juice for mimosas. It can be made by removing the orange peels and placing the peeled oranges through a juicer or by using a citrus juicer to manually squeeze the juice out. There is nothing like freshly squeezed orange juice! The juice was placed in a clear carafe and Veuve Clicquot was chilling, ready to be added to the orange juice. Muffins are one of my favorite items to serve for brunch. I made mini strawberry- orange muffins.

I found the sweetest orange appetizer plates that were perfect for this party! Hosting a brunch is so easy as most of the food/drinks can be prepared ahead of time which will allow you more time with guests. I hope this inspires you to host your own brunch!
