Party Recap

Avery in Wonderland was a first birthday party for my daughter, Avery. I put a shabby chic spin on Alice in Wonderland, and came up with the following ideas.

I bought an old version of the book for inspiration, and ended up using some of the old artwork for her invitations. I work with a graphic designer that found some of the books illustrations and he "water colored" them in Photoshop. I wrote the copy for the invites. Here is a list of some of the things that we had at the party: -Used an old hand crocheted table cloth that my grandmother made (with a pink plastic tablecloth underneath) -Chocolate dipped Marshmallows on sticks, with lemondrop candies in apothecary jars (Old Time Pottery) -Chocolate dipped strawberries on blue and milk glass stands -Pink Cake stand (old time pottery) -Handmade flag banner with pearl garland -Decopaged A for her initial -Pom Pom garland on fishing line -Fingerfoods -Pink Tulle wrapped around her high chair -Pink and Red rose petals lining the sidewalk leading up to the gazebo -Tags from JoAnns fabrics that were stained in tea, then I stamped a stopwatch in brown ink on one side, the other side had "drink me" stamped in brown ink. (those were attached to bottles of water that had the labels removed. -Custom Dress from http://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetplume -Miniature 3 tiered cake with pink frosting and sugar daisies -Cupcakes with pink icing and red hearts (queen of hearts) -I bought a top hat for toddlers online and glued a pink tie to it (for her mad hatter brother) -I found a green blazer at Goodwill and glued rhinestones to the lapel, stitched an M and H to the other lapel (for mad hatter), then took pieces of old ties and stitched those to the elbows. I figured the messier and crazier the better. :) -The flowers were purchased from a wholesaler, and I purchased the vases from Ikea and arranged the flowers in the vases. -White paper butterflies were from Michael's -Photobook made by Chikadeez Photography, featured images from her first year (birth-her in her party dress a month before the party) -All photography by Chikadeez Photography http://www.photography.chikadeez.com (Atlanta, GA)
