Party Recap
I was inspired by Neruda’ s love poems to celebrate my sixth wedding anniversary. The name of the celebration was Oda al Dia Feliz (Ode to the Happy Day) , a poem that summarizes our feelings that day. I checked out some books from the library. I replicated Cien Sonetos de Amor (100 Love Sonnets) to create a heart background that contains all 100 poems. I used as vows to my husband a fragment of the poem Testamento de Otono (Autumn Testament) and I sewed a handkerchief with these verses impressed to express my love to him. And I ordered other ones with favorite verses of others poems. Also, we gave each other new rings. The guest book was a tree: El Arbol de las Palabras (The Tree of Words), where our guests wrote love notes to us. It was inspired in a Neruda’s essay La palabra (The word) . I put a photo of a our wedding day framed in a heart in my bouquet as a memento of that day.
