Party Recap

Let's admit that Unicorns were one of the most popular themes for birthdays this year! With all the sparkles, colors and sugary treats, who could resist? Obviously, I couldn't! On top of having a beautiful party, we also included a gender reveal for our third baby (which is another girl!), and all in all, it was such a great day and beautiful, fun party!

When picking a theme for Adalynn's first birthday, it was no question that Unicorns would be perfect!
We had plenty of water activities, such as a giant unicorn sprinkler (who wouldnt love that!?), a slip n'slide, and a pool! Other activities included a unicorn bounce house, a small ball pit, and giant inflatable bowling!
We also had tables and chairs out, with coloring pages and crayons, but unfortunately it was so hot in that Texas sun that the crayons melted! So coloring was sadly a no-go, at least outside!

Inside, when guests walked in, we had our favor table, gift table, and a photo booth! In the kitchen, we had our food table and drinks, as well as our living room for people to come in and take a break from the heat!

The only unfortunate event to happen at our party was our daughters cake being destroyed by the bakery when they delivered it. They said it was their "first unicorn cake that size" (an 8 and 10 in cake I think it was) and they said they decided to stack the cake before delivering it to our home. It took them 4 hours to fix it, and it still looked a little rough at the end, but we had no choice but to tell them to hurry up and finish as we had to put our food out for the guests.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

We had a delicious, colorful set up for food! I wanted to make it my goal for everything to be colorful as possible! We had colored deviled eggs (HUGE hit!), cotton candy with edible star sprinkles, chocolate covered marshmallow pops, "Rainbow Seeds" aka skittles, "Unicorn Bacon" aka sour strips, a rainbow fruit tray, 3 different types of sugar cookies which were beautifully decorated by my sister and my mother, rainbow chocolate covered pretzel sticks, rainbow jello cups, a rainbow veggie tray, cupcakes with unicorn toppers and of course, the birthday cake!

  • What People Drank

We had lots of juices, water bottles, sodas and of course beer for the adults!

  • Desserts

Our main dessert was the Birthday Cake!

  • Party Favors

Party favors was my favorite part of planning our daughters party! There are so many different choices for favors, we ended up doing a bunch of little things to make the favor bags as fun and colorful as possible! I got a bunch of unicorn headbands from the dollar store and glued flowers onto the top of the headband, where the bottom of the horn is. It was a pop of color for a cheap price! We also got a few headbands from Target! Along with the headbands, we had either a pink or purple unicorn necklace, a unicorn stamp, a rainbow slinky, 2 pops and 4 candies, a unicorn pen (also from the dollar store), a gold unicorn sticker, a unicorn keychain, and Unicorn poop (jelly beans)!

  • Activities / Games

For activites for our party, we rented out a beautiful unicorn themed bounce house, we also purchased a mini ball pit and an inflatable bowling set. For water activities, we had a pool, slip n slide and a giant unicorn water sprinkler! 2 activities I wanted to do but due to running out of room in the. Backyard, we were unable to do: 1. Unicorn Horn Hula Hoop Toss - we had the cone, and the hula hoops, just no room to put it anywhere! 2. I REALLY wanted to rent a unicorn. A legit unicorn, where the company brings a gorgeous pony for the children to ride, brush their hair and feed them. Even if we had room, we probably wouldve skipped this anyways because we wanted our daughter to remember something so special like riding her first pony, and with her being one - sadly she was just too little!
