9th Birthday Feast at Hogwarts

An easy 2 1/2 hour Harry Potter birthday party for a group of 3rd graders!

• What People Ate

  We served a Hogwarts-themed feast of the birthday girl's favorite foods. My Patronus is Pizza (pizza with pepperoni cut in the shape glasses & a lightning bolt), Mad Eye Moody Meatballs, Serpent in a Blank (aka pigs in a blanket), Forbidden Forest broccoli (sadly not a big hit) - Muggles-n-Cheese -- boxed macaroni & cheese

• What People Drank

  ButterBeer, of course!

• Desserts

  Quidditch cake made from a store bought cake with green icing that looks like grass

• Party Favors

  Hermione's time turner necklace, monster notebooks with a quill pen, wand

• Activities / Games

  - Sorting hat ceremony using oreo cookies (the frosting color revealed which house the student was assigned to) - Wand Shopping at Olivanders: each child received a unique wand made using a chopstick, hot glue, and metallic paint - Potions class: exploding elixir (vinegar & baking soda) and glittery lava tubes (oil, water, alka seltzer and lots of glitter) - Transfiguration: turn a fabric "snake" into a fleece no sew pillow - Care of Magical Creatures: a scavenger hunt to find the party favors
