How does downloading clips on Twitch work and why do I no longer see the download button to download? With Twitch clips, viewers can save short recordings from the live stream as videos that they can watch back later or share the scene with others. Previously, it was relatively easy to save and download Twitch clips by right-clicking the clip and selecting the context menu item to download. This download button has recently disappeared. The removal of the download button is believed to be intentional, and the reason for this is that according to a Reddit post, it could be that Twitch wants to give creators more control over their content. The question is, is there another way I can download Twitch clips?

According to our research, there can be different options from which you can download clips. On the one hand, clips can be downloaded using a special configuration of the ad blocker (you can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the linked Reddit thread on this topic), on the other hand, there are several browser plugins available- which can be used to download Twitch clips. We recently tested the “Twitch Clip Downloader” extension for Google Chrome and it seems to work, at least for now. The browser extension simply inserts a download button on the page that will not be displayed without the add-on.
