★ This wine cork bottle stopper includes a vintage silver-plated teaspoon bowl with the hand-stamped phrase "Put A CORK In It". The total length of the cork & spoon is approximately 3 inches. The antique spoon is shiny but shows a little wear from its previous life; it can add great character to the wine bottles at a dinner party. The wine cork is tapered so it fits almost all standard size wine bottles (and many other liquor bottles as well). ★ Please Note: this wine bottle stopper is not intended for use with wine bottles that will be stored on their sides. Storing the wine bottle upright and keeping the cork dry will extend the life of this replacement/substitute cork.

★ Please Note: although the spoon is securely adhered inside the cork using industrial strength jewelry adhesive, please do *NOT* pull the cork out of a wine bottle by pulling on the spoon itself. Cork is naturally porous and the spoon will eventually be torn from the cork. Please pull up on the sides of the cork itself when removing this bottle stopper from a wine bottle.

★★★ PLEASE NOTE: The stamped letters are darkened/colored in using a NON-FOOD-SAFE ink. To clarify -- the upcycled flatware on my wine cork bottle stoppers are *NOT* intended to be put in the mouth. The "permanent" ink is meant to withstand repeated use & washing, but the ink will eventually wear off over time. However, the stamped words will remain forever. (And you can always darken in the letters again with a permanent marker such as a black extra-fine point Sharpie® marker. Just use a microfiber cloth to buff off the excess prior to drying.)★★★

➽ The repurposed silver-plated flatware is used. The spoon bowl shows some minor signs of wear whether from use or from storage or both. These reclaimed pieces have character from their former lives. There often will be scratches, nicks, little spots, splotches, minor areas of pitting (black dots/scratches), and/or some small areas of plate-wear as shown in the sample photos.

1) What Exactly is Vintage/Antique Silverware?
--------------------------------------------------------------
This means the silverware pieces are previously used and can include nicks, plate-wear, and/or scratches. Each piece is thoroughly cleaned and inspected by me. I personally select each piece for its elegance, design, charm, and beauty. Only the best pieces are used for my projects. There is great beauty in old silverware. Pieces may be tarnished and slightly worn from years of loving use, but reviving them and giving them new life is a fun way to reuse, repurpose, and upcycle as well as to enjoy their vintage charm and history. The antique silver-plate spoon bowls used for these wine bottle stoppers are vintage and will show wear from their previous lives as well as from being hammered, in the case of wine bottle stoppers with flattened spoon bowls.

Silver plating on antique silverware also varies in color, thickness, and patina between pieces (and even within patterns) depending on the original design as well as how much each piece was used in its previous life. Because of the age and history of my silverware pieces, imperfections are to be expected and cherished -- that is part of their charm and character.

If you are seeking flawless, uniform, modern pieces for your stamped silverware, you have come to the wrong place. You would be better off looking for stainless steel pieces and/or engraved pieces.

2) How Should I Care for my Vintage Silverware?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Please hand wash your silver-plated silverware. This will preserve the plating, making the silverware last longer. Keep the cork dry, but you can use warm soapy water to cleanse the vintage silver-plated spoon decoration on the cork.

It is normal for silver-plated pieces to darken and tarnish over time. A light polishing with silver polish or a polishing cloth will keep them shiny.

3) Are the Letters/Characters Engraved?
-------------------------------------------------------
No, each letter on the silverware is lovingly hand stamped (i.e., hammered by hand by me). I carefully hand stamp each character -- one at a time. Therefore, no two pieces ever will be exactly the same due to the font/pattern used, the precise placement of each character, the character alignment, the depth of each impression, and stamp uniformity. This adds to the character, charm, and uniqueness of the pieces. Engraving is done with a machine, not by hand.

Because of the nature of hand-stamping, it is impossible to guarantee that 100% of letters/numbers/characters will be perfectly aligned. In some cases, minor tool markings may be evident on the front and/or back of the silverware depending on the design & thickness of the piece.

4) How are the Letters/Numbers/Design Characters Blackened?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The stamped characters on pennies, garden/plant/herb markers, silver-plated jewelry, wine cork bottle stoppers, and silver-plated ornaments are colored with a permanent, water-resistant, fade-resistant black dye. Even this "permanent" dye will fade over time. However, those products are *NOT* food safe and are *NOT* meant to be put in the mouth. Remember, these are *NOT* toys.
