*****JOURNEY TO BECOME THE CHIEF GLITTER OFFICER (CGO)***** Do you ever have an inner mini you...tugging at your heart, jumping on your brain, yelling from the mountaintops..."You were made for more!" Well that little (but mighty) person, made themselves heard to me over two years ago. I'm Linda Larsen, the owner, and Chief Glitter Officer (CGO) of A Dash of Adorable. Although my dream business has been established for only a few years, the birth of my creative destiny dates back decades! As a child, my life was not full of fancy events. I had a single mom, who loved her five kids, and worked three jobs to help us survive. In those simple moments, those times when we had so little financially, I had to learn to create things with my hands. I still vividly remember my 8th birthday party. I made decorations out of perforated printer paper (you know what I’m talking about, the one with the light green lines). I hand drew a bingo board out of pencil and was so excited my mother splurged to buy me Smarties for place markers! Because I could not afford to buy items, I learned to make everything! That is when Pandora’s box opened (cue dramatic music)! I started experimenting with all artistic mediums. Woodwork, painting, sewing, carving, sculpting with clay, baking...you name it, I figured it out. And the more I created, the more the fire fueled inside. I found joy in giving gifts to others that could not be bought from of a store. I wanted the recipient to know that the item they held in their hand was crafted with love, made from the heart, and especially for them. I take pride in telling people, “Only three of those exist in the world!” This passion catapulted into my big girl life! I had the opportunity to design one-of-a-kind gifts and events for my loving husband, two young boys, our pet dog, snake, and chameleon. Yes, you heard me right, even our pets get parties! And oh boy, my 14-year-old Toy Fox Terrier always looks forward to celebrating! He loves tearing open presents and howling to “Happy Birthday!” The passion in my creative heart continued to grow. I wanted to do more than custom events just for my family. So I started designing for friends and extended relatives. But oh the smiles, I wanted more of them! I craved the need to spread joy to others in my city, my state, the nation, and even the world! And that’s when in the summer of 2016, I mustered enough courage to say farewell to my cushy successful corporate job! A former life working 20+ years in the sales world, managing teams and leading departments to banner numbers. I took a deep breath and dived head first into the world of Creativeprenuer! My days and nights are now filled with glitter, Mod Podge, and ribbon. My family calls me “Buddy the Elf,” because when the lights go out, I start creating. They wake up the next morning to find new things magically appear! I LOVE living in a world full of glitter! It is so spectacular to make things sparkle. I cannot wait to sprinkle this joy onto you!
