Here's such a fun idea for a dessert. How about making ice cube tray chocolates? These are so easy to make, your kids can help and you can stuff them with anything you like!
Ice Cube Tray Chocolates RecipeWhat you need:
- Ice cube tray
- Cooking oil
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Milk chocolate chips
- Mini marshmallows
- Crushed peppermint candies
- Coconut oil
Lightly spray the ice cube tray with cooking oil to prevent the chocolate from sticking to the tray. Melt chocolate chips and ¼ teaspoon coconut oil in a bowl in 30 second intervals, stirring each time. Do not overheat, the chocolate will become a thick paste if microwaved too long. Chill tray for 10 minutes before filling with chocolate.
Place 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate chips in each ice cube cavity. I used a new watercolor paint brush to spread the chocolate out evenly in each cavity. Chilling the tray before will help the chocolate stick in place.
Place in fridge until chocolate sets and then repeat for full coverage. Next, fill the chocolate with caramels, mini marshmallows, nuts, and crushed peppermint candies. I found that the crushed peppermint mints work great!
Top each cavity with another tablespoon of melted chocolate. Use the paintbrush to cover open spaces and smooth out evenly. Chill until chocolate sets. Repeat if desired.
Gently twist the ice cube tray to loosen the chocolates from the cavities. Once you have loosened the chocolates, turn over and empty chocolates onto a cutting board. Aren’t they pretty?
Then dig in and see what's inside. Yum!
